Mt 27:57: And evening having arrived, a rich man
from
Arimathea named
Joseph came, who himself also was
discipled to Jesus. Mt 27:58: Having gone to Pilate, he asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded it to be given up. Mt 27:59: And Joseph having taken the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth Mt 27:60: and placed it in his new tomb, which he had cut in the rock. And having rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, he went away. |
Mk 15:42: And evening having arrived already, since
it
was
[the]
Preparation, that is, the day
before Sabbath, Mk 15:43: having come, Joseph from Arimathea, a prominent Council member, who was also himself waiting for the kingdom of God, having boldness, went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. … Mk 15:46: And having bought a linen cloth, having taken Him down, he wrapped [Him] in the linen cloth and laid Him in a tomb which was cut out of a rock. And he rolled a stone to the door of the tomb. |
Lk 23:50: And behold, a man named
Joseph, being also a Council
member, a good and righteous man– Lk 23:51: he was not having consented to their counsel and deed– from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who was waiting for the kingdom of God. Lk 23:52: He having gone to Pilate, asked [for] the body of Jesus. Lk 23:53: And having taken it down, he wrapped it in a linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in a rock, in which no one yet had been laid. Lk 23:54: And it was [the] Day of Preparation, and Sabbath was just beginning. |
Jn 19:38: And after these things,
Joseph
from
Arimathea, being a disciple of
Jesus, but concealed through the fear of the Jews,
asked
Pilate that he might take away
the
body
of
Jesus; and Pilate gave permission.
So he came and took away His body. … Jn 19:40: So they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths, with the spices, as is [the] custom among the Jews to prepare for burial. Jn 19:41: Now there was a garden in the place where He was crucified, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had yet been laid. Jn 19:42: So on account of the Preparation of the Jews, because the tomb was near, they laid Jesus there. |
Joseph of Arimathea, went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
He took the body down and wrapped it in linen.
He laid it in a new tomb, hewn of rock.
It was the day of Preparation.
