Mocking by Soldiers

Mt 27:27-31; Mk 15:16-20; Jn 19:1-3

Mt Mk Jn
Mt 27:27: Τότε οἱ στρατιῶται τοῦ ἡγεμόνος παραλαβόντες τὸν Ἰησοῦν εἰς τὸ πραιτώριον συνήγαγον ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν ὅλην τὴν σπεῖραν.

Mt 27:28: καὶ ἐκδύσαντες αὐτὸν χλαμύδα κοκκίνην περιέθηκαν αὐτῷ,

Mt 27:29: καὶ πλέξαντες στέφανον ἐξ ἀκανθῶν ἐπέθηκαν ἐπὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ καὶ κάλαμον ἐν τῇ δεξιᾷ αὐτοῦ, καὶ γονυπετήσαντες ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ ἐνέπαιξαν αὐτῷ λέγοντες· Χαῖρε, Βασιλεῦ τῶν Ἰουδαίων,

Mt 27:30: καὶ ἐμπτύσαντες εἰς αὐτὸν ἔλαβον τὸν κάλαμον καὶ ἔτυπτον εἰς τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ.

Mk 15:16: Οἱ δὲ στρατιῶται ἀπήγαγον αὐτὸν ἔσω τῆς αὐλῆς, ὅ ἐστιν Πραιτώριον, καὶ συνκαλοῦσιν ὅλην τὴν σπεῖραν.

Mk 15:17: καὶ ἐνδιδύσκουσιν αὐτὸν πορφύραν καὶ περιτιθέασιν αὐτῷ πλέξαντες ἀκάνθινον στέφανον·

Mk 15:18: καὶ ἤρξαντο ἀσπάζεσθαι αὐτόν· Χαῖρε, Βασιλεῦ τῶν Ἰουδαίων·

Mk 15:19: Καὶ ἔτυπτον αὐτοῦ τὴν κεφαλὴν καλάμῳ καὶ ἐνέπτυον αὐτῷ καὶ τιθέντες τὰ γόνατα προσεκύνουν αὐτῷ.

Jn 19:2: καὶ οἱ στρατιῶται πλέξαντες στέφανον ἐξ ἀκανθῶν ἐπέθηκαν αὐτοῦ τῇ κεφαλῇ καὶ ἱμάτιον πορφυροῦν περιέβαλον αὐτόν

Jn 19:3: καὶ ἤρχοντο πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ ἔλεγον· ΧαῖρεΒασιλεὺς τῶν Ἰουδαίων· καὶ ἐδίδοσαν αὐτῷ ῥαπίσματα.

 

Mt Mk Jn
Mt 27:27: Then the soldiers of the governor, having taken Jesus into the Praetorium, gathered the whole cohort before Him.

Mt 27:28: And having stripped Him, they put a scarlet robe around Him.

Mt 27:29: And having twisted together a crown of thorns, they put [it] on His head, and a reed in His right hand; and having bowed the knees before Him, they mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

Mt 27:30: And having spit upon Him, they took the reed and kept striking [Him] on His head.

Mk 15:16: And the soldiers led Him away into the palace, that is [the] Praetorium, and they call together the whole cohort.

Mk 15:17: And they put on Him purple, and having twisted together a crown of thorns, they placed [it] on Him,

Mk 15:18: and they began to salute Him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

Mk 15:19: And they kept striking His head with a reed and spitting on Him; and bending the knees, they were kneeling down to Him.

Jn 19:2: And the soldiers, having twisted together a crown of thorns, put [it] on His head and cast around Him a purple robe.

Jn 19:3: And they began coming up to Him and saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” And they kept giving Him blows with the palm.

 

 

 


The soldiers clothed him in a purple cloak, wove a crown of thorns, and put it on him.

(They said:) “Hail, king of the Jews” and they struck him.
