Foretelling of Peter’s Denial

Mt 26:30-35; Mk 14:26-31; Lk 22:31-39; Jn 13:36-38

Mt 26:30: Καὶ ὑμνήσαντες ἐξῆλθον εἰς τὸ ὄρος τῶν Ἐλαιῶν.¶

Mt 26:33: Ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Πέτρος εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Εἰ πάντες σκανδαλισθήσονται ἐν σοί, ἐγὼ οὐδέποτε σκανδαλισθήσομαι.

Mt 26:34: Ἔφη αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ἀμὴν λέγω σοι ὅτι ἐν ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ πρὶν ἀλέκτορα φωνῆσαι τρὶς ἀπαρνήσῃ με.

Mk 14:26: Καὶ ὑμνήσαντες ἐξῆλθον εἰς τὸ ὄρος τῶν Ἐλαιῶν.

Mk 14:29: δὲ Πέτρος ἔφη αὐτῷ· Εἰ καὶ πάντες σκανδαλισθήσονται, ἀλλ᾽ οὐκ ἐγώ.

Mk 14:30: Καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ἀμὴν λέγω σοι ὅτι σὺ σήμερον ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ πρὶν ἢ δὶς ἀλέκτορα φωνῆσαι τρίς με ἀπαρνήσῃ.

Lk 22:33: δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Κύριε, μετὰ σοῦ ἕτοιμός εἰμι καὶ εἰς φυλακὴν καὶ εἰς θάνατον πορεύεσθαι.

Lk 22:34: Ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Λέγω σοι, Πέτρε, οὐ φωνήσει σήμερον ἀλέκτωρ ἕως τρίς με ἀπαρνήσῃ εἰδέναι.¶


Lk 22:39: Καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἐπορεύθη κατὰ τὸ ἔθος εἰς τὸ ὄρος τῶν Ἐλαιῶν, ἠκολούθησαν δὲ αὐτῷ καὶ οἱ μαθηταί.

Jn 13:37: Λέγει αὐτῷ Πέτρος· Κύριε, διὰ τί οὐ δύναμαί σοι ἀκολουθῆσαι ἄρτι; τὴν ψυχήν μου ὑπὲρ σοῦ θήσω.

Jn 13:38: Ἀποκρίνεται Ἰησοῦς· Τὴν ψυχήν σου ὑπὲρ ἐμοῦ θήσεις; ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω σοι, οὐ μὴ ἀλέκτωρ φωνήσῃ ἕως οὗ ἀρνήσῃ με τρίς.¶

Jn 18:1: Ταῦτα εἰπὼν Ἰησοῦς ἐξῆλθεν σὺν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ πέραν τοῦ χειμάρρου τοῦ Κέδρων ὅπου ἦν κῆπος, εἰς ὃν εἰσῆλθεν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ.¶

Mt 26:30: And having sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Mt 26:33: And Peter answering, said to Him, “If all will fall away because of You, I never will fall away.”

Mt 26:34: Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to you, during this night, before [the] rooster crowing, you will deny Me three times.”

Mk 14:26: And having sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Mk 14:29: And Peter was saying to Him, “Even if all will fall away, yet I [will] not.”

Mk 14:30: And Jesus says to him, “Truly I say to you that now this night, before that [the] rooster crows twice, you yourself will deny Me three times.”

Lk 22:33: And he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You both to prison and to death.”

Lk 22:34: And He said, “I tell you Peter, [the] rooster will not crow today until you will deny three times knowing Me.”

Lk 22:39: And having gone forth, He went according to the custom to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples also followed Him.

Jn 13:37: Peter says to Him, “Lord, why am I not able to follow You presently? I will lay down my life for You.”

Jn 13:38: Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly, I say to you, [the] rooster will not crow until you will deny Me three times.

Jn 18:1: Having said these things, Jesus went out with His disciples beyond the winter stream of Kidron, where there was a garden, into which He and His disciples entered.

 

 

 


They went out to the Mount of Olives. Jesus said (you will stumble).

Peter said: “⎡I am ready to go with you|I will not stumble|I will lay down my life for you⎤.”

Jesus said: “Truly, I say to you, (before) a rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”
