Peter Confesses Jesus as The Christ

Mt 16:13-16,20; Mk 8:27-30; Lk 9:18-21

Mt 16:13: Ἐλθὼν δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἰς τὰ μέρη Καισαρείας τῆς Φιλίππου ἠρώτα τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ λέγων· Τίνα λέγουσιν οἱ ἄνθρωποι εἶναι τὸν Υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου;

Mt 16:14: Οἱ δὲ εἶπαν· Οἱ μὲν Ἰωάννην τὸν Βαπτιστήν, ἄλλοι δὲ Ἠλίαν, ἕτεροι δὲ Ἰερεμίαν ἢ ἕνα τῶν προφητῶν.

Mt 16:15: Λέγει αὐτοῖς· Ὑμεῖς δὲ τίνα με λέγετε εἶναι;

Mt 16:16: Ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Σίμων Πέτρος εἶπεν· Σὺ εἶ Χριστὸς ὁ Υἱὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ τοῦ ζῶντος.

Mt 16:20: Τότε διεστείλατο τοῖς μαθηταῖς ἵνα μηδενὶ εἴπωσιν ὅτι αὐτός ἐστιν ὁ Χριστός.¶

Mk 8:27: Καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὰς κώμας Καισαρείας τῆς Φιλίππου· καὶ ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ ἐπηρώτα τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ λέγων αὐτοῖς· Τίνα με λέγουσιν οἱ ἄνθρωποι εἶναι;

Mk 8:28: Οἱ δὲ εἶπαν αὐτῷ λέγοντες ὅτι Ἰωάννην τὸν Βαπτιστήν, καὶ ἄλλοι Ἠλίαν, ἄλλοι δὲ ὅτι εἷς τῶν προφητῶν.

Mk 8:29: Καὶ αὐτὸς ἐπηρώτα αὐτούς· Ὑμεῖς δὲ τίνα με λέγετε εἶναι; ἈποκριθεὶςΠέτρος λέγει αὐτῷ· Σὺ εἶ Χριστός.

Mk 8:30: Καὶ ἐπετίμησεν αὐτοῖς ἵνα μηδενὶ λέγωσιν περὶ αὐτοῦ.¶

Lk 9:18: Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ εἶναι αὐτὸν προσευχόμενον κατὰ μόνας συνῆσαν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταί, καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτοὺς λέγων· Τίνα με λέγουσιν οἱ ὄχλοι εἶναι;

Lk 9:19: Οἱ δὲ ἀποκριθέντες εἶπαν· Ἰωάννην τὸν Βαπτιστήν, ἄλλοι δὲ Ἠλίαν, ἄλλοι δὲ ὅτι προφήτης τις τῶν ἀρχαίων ἀνέστη.

Lk 9:20: Εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς· Ὑμεῖς δὲ τίνα με λέγετε εἶναι; Πέτρος δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν· Τὸν Χριστὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ.

Lk 9:21: Ὁ δὲ ἐπιτιμήσας αὐτοῖς παρήγγειλεν μηδενὶ λέγειν τοῦτο

Mt 16:13: And Jesus having come into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was questioning His disciples saying, “Whom do men pronounce the Son of Man to be?”

Mt 16:14: And they said, “Some indeed, John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

Mt 16:15: He says to them, “But whom do you pronounce Me to be?”

Mt 16:16: And Simon Peter answering said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Mt 16:20: Then He instructed the disciples that they should tell no one that He is the Christ.

Mk 8:27: And Jesus and His disciples went forth into the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the way, He was questioning His disciples, saying to them, “Whom do men pronounce Me to be?”

Mk 8:28: And they answered Him, saying, “John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.”

Mk 8:29: And He was questioning them, “But whom do you pronounce Me to be?” Peter answering, says to Him, “You are the Christ.”

Mk 8:30: And He warned them that they should tell no one concerning Him.

Lk 9:18: And it came to pass as He was praying in solitary, the disciples were with Him, and He questioned them, saying, “Whom do the crowds pronounce Me to be?”

Lk 9:19: And answering, they said, “John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and others, that a prophet, one of the ancients, has arisen.”

Lk 9:20: And He said to them, “But whom do you pronounce Me to be?” And Peter answering said, “The Christ of God.”

Lk 9:21: And having strictly warned [them], He instructed them to tell this to no one,

 

 

 


(Jesus) asked the disciples, saying: “Who do people say I am?”

They said, “John the Baptist, others Elijah, and others one of the prophets.”

He said to them, “But you, who do you say I am?”

Answering, Peter said, “You are the Christ!”

Jesus ordered them not to tell anybody.
