Πόθεν τούτῳ ἡ σοφία αὕτη καὶ αἱ δυνάμεις; Mt 13:55: οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ τοῦ τέκτονος υἱός; οὐχ ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ λέγεται Μαριὰμ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ Ἰάκωβος καὶ Ἰωσὴφ καὶ Σίμων καὶ Ἰούδας; … Mt 13:57: καὶ ἐσκανδαλίζοντο ἐν αὐτῷ. |

| Οὐκ ἔστιν προφήτης ἄτιμος εἰ μὴ ἐν τῇ πατρίδι καὶ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ αὐτοῦ. | ὅτι Οὐκ ἔστιν προφήτης ἄτιμος εἰ μὴ ἐν τῇ πατρίδι αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν τοῖς συγγενεῦσιν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ αὐτοῦ. | Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδεὶς προφήτης δεκτός ἐστιν ἐν τῇ πατρίδι αὐτοῦ. | Jn 4:44: αὐτὸς γὰρ Ἰησοῦς ἐμαρτύρησεν ὅτι προφήτης ἐν τῇ ἰδίᾳ πατρίδι τιμὴν οὐκ ἔχει. |

Mk 6:2: And [the] Sabbath having come, He began to teach in the synagogue; |
and according to His custom, He entered into the synagogue on the day of the Sabbaths, and stood up to read. | |
| so that they are astonished | and many hearing were astonished, |
… Lk 4:22: And all were bearing witness to Him and marveling at the grace of the words that are proceeding out of His mouth. |

| and are saying, | saying, “From where to this [man] [are] these things, and what [is] the wisdom having been given to Him, even the miracles such as are done by His hands? | And they were saying, | |

“From where [came] to this [One] this wisdom and these miraculous
powers? Mt 13:55: Is this not the son of the carpenter? [Is] not His mother called Mary, and His brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? … Mt 13:57: And they were offended at Him. |
Mk 6:3: Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James and Joseph and Judas and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” And they took offense at Him. |
“Is this not the son of Joseph?” | |
| But Jesus said to them, |
Mk 6:4: And Jesus said to them, |
… Lk 4:24: And He said, |

| “A prophet is not without honor, except in the hometown and in his own household.” | “A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown, and among his relatives, and in his household.” | “Truly I say to you that no prophet is acceptable in his hometown. | Jn 4:44: For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet has no honor in the own hometown. |
And he went to his country. He taught in the synagogue. They were
astonished. They said: “Is he not the ⸂carpenter’s¦Joseph’s¦Mary’s⸃
son?”
Jesus said, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country.”
