Mt 3:1: Now in those days John the Baptist comes, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, Mt 3:2: and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.”	Mk 1:4: John came baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins.	Lk 3:2: during [the] high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, [the] word of God came upon John son of Zechariah in the wilderness. Lk 3:3: And he went into all the region surrounding the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins,	Jn 1:6: There came a man having been sent from God. His name [was] John.

John appeared in the wilderness, proclaiming a change of mind (repentance).

The prophet Isaiah wrote: “a voice of one calling out in the wilderness:

‘Prepare the way of the Lord!

Make his paths straight!’”
