Herod Hears About Jesus

Mt 14:1-2; Mk 6:14-16; Lk 9:7-9

Mt 14:1: Ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῷ καιρῷ ἤκουσεν Ἡρῴδης ὁ τετραάρχης τὴν ἀκοὴν Ἰησοῦ,

Mt 14:2: καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ· Οὗτός ἐστιν Ἰωάννης ὁ Βαπτιστής· αὐτὸς ἠγέρθη ἀπὸ τῶν νεκρῶν καὶ διὰ τοῦτο αἱ δυνάμεις ἐνεργοῦσιν ἐν αὐτῷ.¶

Mk 6:14: Καὶ ἤκουσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἡρῴδης, φανερὸν γὰρ ἐγένετο τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔλεγον ὅτι Ἰωάννης ὁ Βαπτίζων ἐγήγερται ἐκ νεκρῶν καὶ διὰ τοῦτο ἐνεργοῦσιν αἱ δυνάμεις ἐν αὐτῷ. Lk 9:7: Ἤκουσεν δὲ Ἡρῴδης ὁ τετραάρχης τὰ γινόμενα πάντα καὶ διηπόρει διὰ τὸ λέγεσθαι ὑπό τινων ὅτι Ἰωάννης ἠγέρθη ἐκ νεκρῶν,

Mt 14:1: At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the news of Jesus,

Mt 14:2: and he said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and because of this, the miraculous powers are working in him.”

Mk 6:14: And King Herod heard; for His name became well known. And [people] were saying, “John, the [one] baptizing, is risen out from [the] dead, and because of this the miraculous powers operate in him.” Lk 9:7: And Herod the Tetrarch heard of all the things being done, and was perplexed, because it was said by some that John has been raised out from [the] dead,

 

 

 


Herod heard (about Jesus), … “John (the Baptist) was raised from the dead.”
